Lawyers know that it is a bad idea to use the “society made me do it” defense for a client who’s as guilty as homemade sin.

The majority of the time the client ends up with the same fate or worse. Yet, according to the New York Post, this didn’t stop a Brooklyn, New York defense attorney from blaming her client’s upbringing for his decision to beat his wife to death after she cursed him out and refused to cook him goat meat.

The New York Post reported that attorney Julie Clark argued before the court that her client’s, Noor Hussein, Pakistanian culture taught him that a man should beat his wife in order to discipline her.

The New York Post quoted Clark as saying, “He comes from a culture where he thinks this is appropriate conduct, where he can hit his wife. He culturally believed he had the right to hit his wife and discipline his wife.”

According to the New York Post, Nazar Hussein told her husband that they were going to eat the lentils that she cooked and she proceeded to curse him out when he began arguing with her.

And based on what Clark said, Hussein’s up brining prevented him from wrapping his mind around the idea of his wife, Nazar Hussein, telling him what they were going to do.

For Noor Hussein, this was blatant disrespect and his wife had to be taught a lesson. So he grabbed the multi-purpose stick, which they used for walking and washing clothes, to beat some sense into his wife.

Neighbors told the New York Post that it was common for Noor Hussein to beat his wife and that they would often hear the two arguing.

Unfortunately for Nazar Hussein, the last beating resulted in her death.
